What an Acropolis ticket costs
The Hellenic Heritage Acropolis page lists a full ticket at €30 and a reduced ticket at €15 (checked 8 October 2026). Hellenic Heritage is the e-ticket platform of ODAP, the state body that sells admission to Greek archaeological sites, and its "Buy tickets" link on that page opens the official shop at tickets.hh.gr.
| Visitor | Price | What to carry |
|---|---|---|
| Adult | €30 | Ticket |
| Senior 65+ from Greece or another EU state, 1 October to 31 May | €15 | ID card or passport |
| Up to age 25 from an EU member state | Free | ID card or passport |
| Child under 18 from outside the EU | Free | Passport |
| Visitor with a disability, plus one escort (see below) | Free | Disability card or certificate, and ID |
The free and reduced categories come from the Ministry of Culture's free admission list, which also covers smaller groups such as licensed guides, journalists and ICOM members. For disability, its wording is "persons with disabilities and one escort (only in the case of 67% disability)". The ministry's pricing decision of 19 December 2023 raised the age for free entry for non-EU children from under 5 to under 18, kept free entry for EU citizens under 25, and limited the 65+ reduction to 1 October to 31 May.
For a family from outside the EU, two adults with children aged 12 and 16 pay €60 in total, because the children are free. Two EU parents travelling with a 22-year-old also pay €60. An EU traveller aged 70 visiting in October pays €15.
Opening hours and last entry
The Acropolis opens at 08:00 every day, and its closing time steps down through the autumn (Hellenic Heritage, checked 8 October 2026). Last admission is 20 minutes before closing.

How booking and time slots work
Every ticket is for a date and a time slot. Hellenic Heritage's terms of use say admission takes place "exclusively within the time zone selected" (clause 3.4), so a slot is an entry window, not a suggestion.
The terms are strict on money. Once a purchase is complete, it cannot be cancelled or refunded for any reason, including lost or stolen tickets (clause 3.18), and the ticket is valid for a single entry to the site (clause 3.23).
Free admission days
Everyone enters free on these days, according to both Hellenic Heritage and the ministry's free admission page (checked 8 October 2026):
- 6 March, 18 April and 18 May
- the last weekend of September (European Heritage Days)
- 28 October
- the first and third Sunday of each month from 1 November to 31 March
The next one after this check is Wednesday 28 October 2026. On free-admission days, Hellenic Heritage's terms (clause 3.3) say tickets are issued only at the ticket offices, so you collect your free ticket at the site on the day rather than booking it online.
Which entrance to use
The main entrance is on the West Slope. Hellenic Heritage gives a 12-minute walk from Acropolis metro station on line 2 and also lists Monastiraki on lines 1 and 3. For which metro ticket or card to use, see Athens transport tickets.
The South Slope has its own main entrance at the junction of Dionysiou Areopagitou and Thrasyllou streets, near the Theatre of Dionysos. For visitors with reduced mobility, Hellenic Heritage describes an elevator on the north side, about 300 m from the site exit, that reaches the plateau north of the Erechtheion; it may also be used by a parent alone with two or more infants. An accessible restroom is near the end of the Parthenon–Erechtheion route.
What can go wrong on the day
Heat. The ministry has closed Athens sites in the middle of the day during heatwaves. On 22 July 2025 it announced that the Acropolis, the Ancient Agora, the Roman Agora, Hadrian's Library, the Olympieion and Aristotle's Lyceum would close from 12:00 to 17:00 for four days, 22–25 July. In summer, book an early slot or one after 17:00 and check the ministry's announcements the day before.
Missing your slot. The terms do not provide for late entry, so treat the slot as fixed. If you are running late, use the free slot change before the 120-minute cutoff rather than turning up after your window.
Closure on your day. If the site is shut by force majeure, the terms allow the ticket to be extended or refunded (see the FAQ below).
