How do I get from Manas airport to Bishkek city centre?
Manas International Airport OJSC runs the airport. On its company page, it gives the location as 23 km north-west of Bishkek. There is no rail link. The operator's guide to reaching the airport names two options: marshrutka 380 and taxis. The guide is written for the trip to the airport, but the same minibus route and taxi prices apply in the other direction. The page has no publication date, so treat its fares as the operator's current guidance and allow for small changes.
| Option | Cost per person | Runs | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marshrutka 380 | 60 som (about USD 0.69) | Every 15 min, 06:30–20:00 | Solo travellers with one bag, daytime arrivals |
| Taxi, 1 person | 550–650 som (about USD 6.29–7.43) | Around the clock | Late arrivals, heavy luggage |
| Taxi, 4 people sharing | About 138–163 som each | Around the clock | Groups and families |
| Manas Airport Taxi (airport's own service) | Ask at the desk | 24/7 | Travellers who want a car booked on site |
Conversions use the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic official rate of 87.4498 som per US dollar, set for 24 September 2026. The operator says taxi prices change with the season, so the range is a guide, not a fixed tariff.
Is marshrutka 380 worth it with luggage?
On the operator's guide, marshrutka 380 costs 60 som, runs every 15 minutes and operates from 06:30 to 20:00. In the city, it picks up at the Beishenalieva stop, at the junction of Molodaya Gvardiya Boulevard and Chui Avenue. If you are leaving Bishkek, board it there. If you are arriving, stay on until Beishenalieva for the main part of the city.
The price is hard to beat, but a marshrutka is a minibus, not an airport coach. The operator does not describe any luggage space, so a large suitcase may have to sit on your lap or in the aisle. Choose it if you have a backpack or one medium bag and land well before 20:00. The last listed departure is 20:00, so after about 19:30 a taxi is the safer choice.
Taxis and the airport's own taxi service
The airport operator runs a taxi service of its own, Manas Airport Taxi. Its office is on the ground floor of the terminal's west wing, and the service runs 24/7. It offers economy cars, business-class cars and minivans. It drives to Bishkek, anywhere in Kyrgyzstan and to Almaty in Kazakhstan. The service page does not publish a price list, so ask for the price at the desk before you accept a car.
Use the operator's average of 550 to 650 som as your yardstick. If a driver outside the terminal quotes much more than that, you can compare with the price at the Manas Airport Taxi desk. Agree the total in som before loading your bags, and have small notes ready.
Worked example: one traveller
You land at 14:00 with a 23 kg suitcase and are staying near Chui Avenue. Marshrutka 380 costs 60 som, about USD 0.69. You then walk or take a 20 som city marshrutka at the other end. A taxi at the operator's average costs 550 to 650 som, about USD 6.29 to 7.43, and takes you to the door. The difference is under USD 7. With a big suitcase, a taxi is usually worth it. With a backpack in daylight, the minibus works fine.
Worked example: three or four people with luggage
Four people on marshrutka 380 pay 4 × 60 = 240 som, plus onward city fares. They also need space for four sets of bags in a minibus. One taxi at 550 to 650 som works out at about 138 to 163 som each for four, or about 183 to 217 som each for three. That is more than the minibus but takes you door to door. If the bags will not fit in a saloon car, ask Manas Airport Taxi for a minivan and agree the price before you set off.
Late arrivals, departures and accessibility
Check your arrival time against the minibus hours. On the operator's timetable, marshrutka 380 is not running between 20:00 and 06:30, so the practical options at night are the 24-hour taxi desk or a pickup arranged by your hotel. If you are being collected, the airport's automated parking system records vehicles at barriers on the way in and out. The page does not publish tariffs, so the driver should expect to pay on exit.
For the return trip, work backwards from the check-in rules. The operator asks passengers to arrive 3 hours before international flights and 2 hours before CIS and domestic flights. Check-in closes 1 hour before departure for flydubai and Turkish Airlines and 40 minutes before for other airlines. For a 06:00 international departure, the first 380 at 06:30 is too late, so book a taxi.
