A'DAM Lookout ticket prices

The Lookout's ticket price page lists every product with an online price and, for most, a higher box-office price. Prices below were checked on 12 October 2026 and are per person unless marked.

Ticket Online Box office
Adult entry €16.50 €18.50
Child entry, ages 4–12 €10.50 €12.50
Over the Edge swing (add-on) €7.50 €8.50
Amsterdam VR Ride (add-on) €7.50 €8.50
Lookout + Thrill (entry, swing and VR Ride) €29.50 €35.50
Family: 2 adults + 2 children €46 €62

The price list starts at age 4 and does not state a price for younger children, so check the under-4 option in the online shop before you buy. Personal CJP card holders pay €8 at the box office.

Payment is by card only: the FAQ lists Maestro, Visa, Mastercard and American Express. There is no cash option on the Lookout's own pages.

Family and combination tickets

Family tickets come in four sizes online: 1 adult + 2 children (€31), 1 adult + 3 children (€39), 2 adults + 1 child (€38) and 2 adults + 2 children (€46). The online family ticket is the real saving. At the box office, the 2 + 2 family price of €62 is the same as four separate desk tickets.

Food and drink bundles are also sold: entry with one drink (€20.50 online), with a burger menu served 12:00 to 16:00 (€34.50 online), or with lunch or dinner at the 20th-floor restaurant Madam (€25.50 online, which includes a €10 deposit taken off your bill). The list also shows a "Rock the City" combo with a canal cruise and the Heineken Experience at €49.95, for adults 18 and over only.

Over the Edge swing: price and rules

The Over the Edge page describes a two-seat swing that pushes riders out over the roof edge, about 100 m up. A ride lasts about a minute, according to the Lookout FAQ. The swing is not sold on its own: you add it to an entry ticket (€7.50 online) or buy a combination ticket.

When you book, you choose a 20-minute slot. You can turn up at any point within it and ride in that slot, so, according to the ticket page, you will not wait longer than 15 minutes; it also asks you to arrive at least 30 minutes early. Swing tickets are non-refundable.

None of the official pages says whether wind or rain stops the swing. If the swing is the main reason for your visit, ask the Lookout on +31 (0)20 242 01 00 (during opening hours) before you book a non-refundable slot in uncertain weather.

What a visit costs: example totals

These totals use the online prices checked on 12 October 2026.

  • Couple, both swinging: 2 × €16.50 + 2 × €7.50 = €48 online. At the box office the same visit costs 2 × €18.50 + 2 × €8.50 = €54.
  • Thrill-seeker who wants the VR Ride too: the Lookout + Thrill ticket is €29.50, against €31.50 for entry plus both add-ons bought separately.
  • Two adults with children aged 6 and 10, adults swinging only: the 2 + 2 family ticket (€46) plus two swings (€15) comes to €61. Bought at the desk, it is €62 + €17 = €79.

So booking online saves €2 per entry and €1 per swing, and much more on family tickets. A child who is under 1.20 m cannot ride, so measure before adding a swing for them.

Opening hours and how long to allow

The plan-your-visit page gives the hours as daily 10:00 to 22:00, with last admission at 21:00 (checked 12 October 2026). The home page describes a lift ride of about 20 seconds and an audio tour of around 30 minutes; it does not give a total visit length. Allow more if you have a swing slot, since you are asked to arrive 30 minutes before it.

Swing photos and video are described on the home page as taken "in daylight", so a visit after dark suits the city lights but not a daytime swing video.

Getting there: the ferry from Centraal

The Lookout occupies floors 20 and 21 of the A'DAM Tower at IJpromenade 4, 1031 KT Amsterdam, on the north bank of the IJ opposite Centraal Station.

Ferries across the IJ are free and need no ticket, according to I amsterdam's ferry page, which names GVB as the operator, calls the route from Centraal to Buiksloterweg the most popular and best served, and says it runs through the night. The Lookout's own page says the ferry runs every 5 minutes, 24/7 (both checked 12 October 2026). If you are travelling to Centraal by tram or metro first, our guide to paying for Amsterdam public transport by bank card or ticket covers fares.

There is a car park beneath the tower, but the ferry is the simpler route from the centre.

Planning around other timed visits

The Lookout works well at the end of a day, since last admission is 21:00 and the ferry runs late. The Rijksmuseum and other big museums need fixed time slots, so book those first and fit the Lookout around them; see our guide to Rijksmuseum tickets and time slots. If you would rather see the city from water level than from 100 m up, Amsterdam canal cruises compared sets out the operators and prices.
