Which option fits your arrival?
Jorge Chávez airport has three ways to reach the city. The official bus goes to Miraflores only. Official taxis go anywhere. AeroDirecto is the city's public airport bus. Lima Airport Partners runs the airport. On its transport pages, it lists authorised taxis, car hire and buses. It does not list app pick-ups.
The new terminal can only be entered and left by vehicle. El Comercio reported this when the terminal opened in June 2025. So walking out to a main road to find a cheaper ride is not a real option.
| Option | Cost | Time to Miraflores | Best when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airport Express Lima | S/20 alone, S/15 each for 2+ | 50–70 min, plus up to an hour's wait | Daytime, staying in Miraflores |
| Official taxi (standard) | Flat price quoted at the counter | Door to door, same roads | Groups, night arrivals, Centro or San Isidro |
| Taxi Remisse (VIP) | Quoted by the operator | Door to door | You want a premium car kept close to the terminal |
| AeroDirecto (public bus) | Not published by the airport; check ATU | Varies by route | You know Lima and travel light |
The bus times come from Airport Express Lima's FAQ. Traffic is slowest from 07:00 to 09:00 and from 17:00 to 21:00. A taxi uses the same roads, so it is not much faster at rush hour. You save the wait for the next bus and the walk from the last stop.
How does Airport Express Lima work?
The airport's bus page calls Airport Express Lima the airport's official bus. It lists the fare as 20 soles for one passenger and 15 soles per person for two or more. The operator's ticket page explains the group price. It applies when two or more passengers show boarding passes for the same flight before boarding.
The timetable shows departures from the airport every hour, from 07:00 to 22:00, every day. Buses back from Miraflores run from 07:00 to 21:00. The operator's point of sale is a few steps from Exits 2 and 3 on the first floor. You can pay there or on the bus without a booking.
Luggage costs nothing extra. The operator allows the same items that were allowed on your flight. For the return trip, it tells passengers to board at least four hours before a domestic flight and six hours before an international one. The bus runs hourly and the traffic is unpredictable.
Official taxis in the arrivals hall
The airport's taxi page lists taxi counters in both domestic and international arrivals. Staff walk you to your driver in a parking area kept for these taxis. Two services are listed. A standard taxi has three phone numbers, including +51 1 4844001. The Taxi Remisse VIP service uses cars such as Mercedes and Lexus and can use the road closest to the terminal.
The airport does not publish taxi fares. The US State Department says the authorised taxi booths charge a flat rate by destination. Ask for the price at the counter and agree to it before you walk to the car.
For a sense of prices, El Comercio reported in June 2025, just after the terminal opened, that taxis charged up to S/80 to Pueblo Libre and around S/100 to San Juan de Miraflores. The article did not separate the airport's official taxis from others. Take these as old reported prices, not a tariff.
Worked example: one traveller vs a group of four
These examples use the fares above. The taxi price is what the counter quotes on the day.
One person, landing at 14:00, hotel near Parque Kennedy. Airport Express costs S/20. The next bus leaves on the hour, and the ride takes 50–70 minutes. Even with the wait, you are there by about 16:00, for far less than any taxi price reported in 2025. Take the bus.
Four people with checked bags, landing at 18:30, hotel in Miraflores. The group fare is 4 × S/15 = S/60. The 19:00 bus runs in evening rush hour, and a group of four needs four seats with luggage. Ask the taxi counter for the flat price to your street. If it is close to S/60, the taxi takes you to your door and you leave sooner. If it is well above S/60 and you are near a bus stop, take the bus.
Three people going to Centro, or anyone landing after 22:00. Airport Express either doesn't go there or has stopped for the night. Use the official taxi counter.
Money and phone before you leave arrivals
Have soles ready. You can pay the bus at the counter or on board, and the operator says soles are accepted on board. The airport lists currency exchange desks from World Xchange (four outlets) and Global Exchange (three outlets).
