Start from your exact destination
Kraków Main Station sits close to the edge of the Old Town, walkable for many central hotels but not all of them. If your accommodation is well outside the historic centre, factor in a tram, bus or short taxi ride from the station or bus stop as the final stretch of your journey, rather than assuming the train or bus drops you at your door.
The train
According to Kraków Airport's own page, the airport's train station sits directly adjacent to the terminal, reached via a covered footbridge behind the multi-storey car park — you do not need to leave the terminal building and cross open ground to reach it. Trains are operated by Koleje Małopolskie on the SKA1 line, which the airport's page describes as running between Wieliczka Salt Mine, Kraków Main Station and Kraków Airport, with each train fitted with at least 138 seats, air conditioning, power outlets, Wi-Fi and an on-board ticket machine.
Fares listed on Kraków Airport's page are 20 PLN from the airport to Kraków Main Station, and 24 PLN from the airport directly to Wieliczka Salt Mine if you're heading straight there instead of into the city. Luggage travels free; a dog costs 3 PLN. Tickets can be bought from the on-train ticket machine by cash or card, from the conductor on board, from the Koleje Małopolskie website, or through third-party sales channels such as KOLEO or Jakdojade, per the airport's page.
The public buses
Kraków Airport is served by two daytime agglomeration bus lines, 209 and 300, plus a night line, 902, according to Kraków Airport's own bus page. Current departure boards are displayed on a screen near the information desk in the main terminal hall, and full timetables are published through the airport's page and MPK S.A., the Kraków public transport operator.
These buses run on a specific "agglomeration" ticket system, with tickets sold from a machine in the arrivals hall at level 0, or from a machine at the bus stop itself, payable in cash or by card. According to the airport's page, fares include:

Longer multi-day passes are also available, up to a 7-day Zones I+II+III pass at 80 PLN normal fare, per the same page. Remember to validate your ticket after boarding — the airport's page notes this explicitly as a requirement, not an option.
The official taxi
Kraków Airport states that its own branded taxi service, bookable online or by phone, is "the only official taxi service at the airport," with a call centre open daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM according to the airport's page. Rather than a single flat citywide rate, fares are set by distance zone from the airport:

Fares for distances beyond 27 km are settled with the driver before the ride, capped at 8 PLN per kilometre, and the airport's page notes these zone fares are flat regardless of day, time or traffic, applying to a single destination — a stop en route to a second destination is charged separately by the meter. Waiting time is billed at 35 PLN, and the service accepts all card types, per the airport's page.
Kraków Airport's page does not describe other taxi companies or ride-hailing services operating at the terminal, so if you use anything other than the official Kraków Airport Taxi, confirm the fare and legitimacy of the vehicle before getting in.

Late arrivals and large luggage
Kraków Airport's public bus page includes a dedicated night line (902) alongside the two daytime routes, so a late landing does not automatically mean no public transport option — though frequency on a night line is naturally lower than during the day, and you should check the current timetable rather than assume a specific interval. The official taxi rank, bookable by phone with a call centre open until 10:00 PM per the airport's page, is the more predictable option outside those hours, though confirm current phone-booking availability if you're arriving very late at night.
Two large suitcases are manageable on the train given its adjacency to the terminal and free luggage carriage, but if your onward journey from Kraków Main Station into your specific accommodation involves stairs, a tram change, or several cobbled blocks — common in parts of the Old Town — the door-to-door taxi may be worth its higher price regardless of how you feel about the train itself.
Before you leave the arrivals hall
Decide which option you're taking before you're standing in the arrivals hall with your bags, since that's exactly when an unofficial driver is most likely to approach you. The signed route to the train platform, the marked public bus stop, and the official Kraków Airport Taxi desk or booking channel are the three channels this guide describes; nothing else at the terminal is part of any of them.
