How the time slots work
Start times run every 30 minutes from 10:00 to 17:00. The Quinta allows a maximum of one hour's tolerance after the time on your ticket, but last entry is still 17:30, so a 17:00 ticket gives you only 30 minutes' grace.
Other ticket rules on the visits page:
- Tickets are personal and valid for one entry on the chosen day and time; they cannot be exchanged or extended.
- You can reschedule through Blueticket with at least 48 hours' notice.
- Refunds are given only if the site closes unexpectedly or by order of the authorities.
- Once inside, you can stay until closing.
- The box office takes cash, debit and credit cards, but not American Express.
Audio guides cannot be reserved; rent one at the box office on arrival. They cover 30 listening points in the palace, chapel and gardens, in several languages, with a children's version in Portuguese.
Opening hours by season
| Period | Opens | Last entry | Gardens close |
|---|---|---|---|
| January – March | 10:00 | 17:30 | 18:30 |
| April – September | 09:00 | 17:30 | 19:30 |
| October – December | 10:00 | 17:30 | 18:30 |
The palace, chapel and exhibition spaces close 30 minutes before the gardens all year, so in winter be out of the buildings by 18:00. The Quinta is closed on 1 January and on 24, 25 and 31 December.
Inside, only the palace's main floor is open, and the Aquarium is closed for conservation, according to notices on the Quinta's home page. The well and the gardens are part of the self-guided circuit.

Getting to Quinta da Regaleira from Sintra station
If you are coming from Lisbon by train, our Lisbon to Sintra train guide covers fares and the Navegante card. The Quinta's address is Quinta da Regaleira 9, 2710-567 Sintra.
There is no parking at the Quinta itself. The visits page directs drivers to Sintra's municipal parking information, so the train is the simpler choice.
If you will use buses and trains all day, Scotturb also lists a CP "Train & Bus" day ticket valid on its whole network, sold at Scotturb and CP offices. No price was shown on either page we read.
Is Regaleira the right Sintra stop?
Regaleira is a fairly easy Sintra visit to fit around a train timetable: the one-hour tolerance absorbs small delays, the route is self-guided and you can stay until closing. Our guide to choosing between Sintra, Cascais and Óbidos helps if you are still deciding on the day trip itself.
