A QAR 70 pass sold by Qatar Airways' destination company now undercuts one adult ticket to the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) by QAR 30. That price gap is the main thing to know before buying museum tickets in Doha. The rest is about which visitors pay at all and which days each museum is closed.
Who pays, and how much?
Qatar Museums runs both MIA and the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) and sells tickets through one booking system. The two differ in character: MIA, designed by I. M. Pei and opened in 2008, holds Islamic art from the 7th to the 20th centuries drawn from three continents, according to its About page. NMoQ, by Jean Nouvel and completed in 2019, tells Qatar's own story across 11 galleries in three chapters, wrapped around the restored palace of Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani.
Visit Qatar's MIA page lists adult admission at QAR 100 and free entry for Qatar residents, GCC residents, children 16 and under, and One Pass holders. If you are travelling with a 16-year-old, bring proof of age and confirm the rule when booking.
Visit Qatar's NMoQ page did not list a price, and neither did the museum's own site. Qatar Museums' booking page loads prices only inside the checkout, and when we read it on 27 September 2026 it showed "Tickets are not available currently" for every museum. We could not confirm a current adult price for NMoQ or the 3-2-1 museum on any official page.
Single tickets or Discover One Pass?
Discover One Pass is sold by Discover Qatar, the destination management company of Qatar Airways, in partnership with Qatar Museums. It costs QAR 70 per person and gives unlimited entry for five days from first use to MIA, NMoQ and the 3-2-1 museum. The page lists the pass as available from 26 September 2026 to 31 December 2027 and excludes guided tours.
| Visitor | Single tickets | Discover One Pass |
|---|---|---|
| One adult, MIA only | QAR 100 | QAR 70 |
| Two adults, MIA only | 2 × 100 = QAR 200 | 2 × 70 = QAR 140 |
| Two adults, MIA and NMoQ | QAR 200 plus two NMoQ tickets (price not published) | QAR 140 |
| Two adults with two children aged 16 and under, MIA only | QAR 200 (children free) | QAR 140 for the adults; children enter MIA free |
For a non-resident adult the pass costs less even for MIA alone, and it also covers whatever NMoQ and the 3-2-1 museum charge. The table assumes the children would enter free alongside pass holders; the pass page does not state a child price, so do not buy passes for children without asking Discover Qatar first.
The pass also lists Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art as its fourth museum, but marks it "closed until further notice" and unavailable under the pass. Mathaf's own site does list opening hours and a new exhibition from 25 October 2026. Since Mathaf is free to enter anyway, this conflict does not change what the pass is worth.
The pass page did not describe how it is redeemed at the door or its cancellation terms. Read those in the booking flow before paying.
Which days are the museums open?
Each museum closes on a different weekday, which matters more than price if you only have two or three days in Doha. The Discover One Pass page lists the same closing days as the museums' own pages below.
| Museum | Closed | Other open days | Thursday | Friday |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MIA | Wednesday | 9am–7pm | 9am–9pm | 1:30pm–7pm |
| NMoQ | Tuesday | 9am–7pm | 9am–9pm | 1:30pm–7pm |
| 3-2-1 | Tuesday | 9am–7pm | 9am–9pm | 1:30pm–7pm |
Sources: the MIA homepage and MIA visit page, the NMoQ visit page and the 3-2-1 visit page. NMoQ's last entry is 45 minutes before closing.
In practice, Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Saturday are the days when both MIA and NMoQ are open for a full day. A Tuesday puts you at MIA only, a Wednesday at NMoQ only. Both are served by National Museum station on the Gold Line, per Visit Qatar, so pairing them on one day is realistic. Our Doha Metro and Karwa guide explains the network.
Closures and rules to check on the day
One-off closures happen: MIA's homepage announced that the museum would be closed to the public on Sunday, 27 September 2026, a normal opening day. NMoQ says some galleries may be closed for enhancement, and the One Pass page specifies that certain NMoQ galleries are closed for maintenance until 30 December 2026. Both museums' guidelines ask visitors to cover shoulders and knees, and entry can be refused for unsuitable clothing.
Tripods, selfie sticks and flash are not allowed at either museum, and large bags go into lockers or the cloakroom. Both museums sell tickets on arrival as well as online. MIA warns that its limited car park fills quickly at weekends, which is another reason to arrive by metro.
