Thyssen ticket prices
The museum's opening hours and prices page lists these rates (checked 30 October 2026):
| Ticket | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| General | €14 | Collections and current temporary exhibitions |
| Reduced: over-65s and pensioners | €10 | Bring proof |
| Students | €10 | Bring a student card |
| Groups of 7 or more | €12 per person | |
| Audio guide | +€5.50 | Added to your ticket |
| Paseo del Arte pass | €32.80 | One visit each to the Thyssen, Prado and Reina Sofía within a year |
| Free | €0 | Under-18s, unemployed people, people with a disability of 33% or more, Friends of the Museum |
The single ticket includes the temporary exhibitions open during your visit, so you do not need a separate exhibition ticket.
The time slot applies to one exhibition only
The museum says only the ground-floor temporary exhibition requires a time slot, because its capacity is limited. Tickets without that exhibition have no set time and work at any point on the chosen day. The museum estimates about 2 hours 30 minutes for the collections plus about 50 minutes for the ground-floor exhibition.
If the ground-floor show is the reason for your visit, book its slot first and plan the collections around it. If you only want the permanent collection, buy the ticket and arrive whenever suits you.
Opening hours and free times
The Thyssen keeps a winter and a summer timetable:
| Day | 1 September – 30 June | 1 July – 31 August |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | 12:00–16:00, free, collection only | 12:00–16:00, free, collection only |
| Tuesday–Friday | 10:00–19:00 | 10:00–21:00 |
| Saturday | 10:00–23:00 | 10:00–23:00 |
| Sunday | 10:00–19:00 | 10:00–19:00 |
Last admission is 30 minutes before closing. The ticket office opens Tuesday to Sunday 10:00–18:30, and on Saturdays until 20:30. On 24 and 31 December the museum opens 10:00–15:00, and it closes on 1 January, 1 May and 25 December. The price page does not mention 6 January.
Two weekly windows are free with no ticket at all: Monday 12:00–16:00 for the collection, and Saturday 21:00–23:00 for the temporary exhibitions on the ground and −1 floors. Our free hours guide compares these with the Prado's and the Reina Sofía's free hours. Exhibition hours vary. On 30 October 2026 the price page listed The Freudian Universe of Dalí as closed on Mondays, and gave Saturday hours ending at 21:00 for the Kenny Scharf and Mauritshuis exhibitions, so not every temporary show is part of the free Saturday night.
Worked example: Paseo del Arte or single tickets?
The Paseo del Arte card costs €32.80 and saves 20% on the three museums' standard prices. At the Thyssen it also lets you skip the queue, though the card page excludes Mondays for the Thyssen visit.
For one adult paying full price everywhere, the Thyssen (€14) and the Prado (€15) alone come to €29. The card adds the Reina Sofía for another €3.80. It stops paying when you qualify for a reduced or free rate, or when you would use a free window instead. Our Prado tickets guide covers the Prado side, and the Madrid City Card guide explains its 10% Thyssen discount.

Cloakroom, bags and services
The services page sets these rules:
- The cloakroom is free and tipping is not allowed.
- Luggage is accepted only with a same-day museum ticket, and no luggage is accepted on Mondays.
- Bags and small rucksacks can go into the galleries.
- Large or heavy items that are hard to handle or store are not allowed, nor are plants, food or flags.
The page does not give a size limit, so a carry-on case is at the cloakroom's discretion. There is an ATM in the first basement and a café-restaurant on the ground floor.
