Prague City Tourism's Old Town Square market listing names Taiko, a. s. as the organiser and shows the Wenceslas Square market for 28 November 2026 to 6 January 2027, open 10:00–22:00. That listing gives no 2026 dates for Old Town Square itself; the Old Town Square dates in the table come from CzechTourism.
The neighbourhood dates come from CzechTourism's Christmas markets page, the national tourist board. That page also names markets at the Anděl pedestrian zone in Smíchov, Jiřího z Poděbrad Square, Charles Square and Prague Castle, but gives no dates for them. Treat those as places to check nearer the time, not as confirmed 2026 markets.
Opening hours and the Christmas days
The only 2026 hours published when we checked were the Wenceslas Square market's 10:00–22:00 daily. Prague City Tourism had not yet listed hours for Old Town Square, and CzechTourism gives no hours for any market.
Last season gives an idea of what to expect over Christmas. Prague City Tourism's 2025–26 Wenceslas Square listing showed:
- 24 December 2025: 10:00–14:00
- 25 and 26 December 2025: 12:00–22:00
- A stage programme from Thursday to Sunday, starting at 16:00
Those are 2025 times, not 2026 ones. They suggest planning a Christmas Eve visit for the morning and expecting a late start on the two following days. For which sights and museums open on those days, see our Prague Christmas and New Year opening hours guide.
Which market to visit, depending on when you arrive
20–27 November: the big squares are not open yet. Peace Square in Vinohrady is the first market of the season, joined by Republic Square on 25 November and Tyl Square on 26 November.
28 November to 23 December: all five dated markets are running. Old Town Square has the city's main Christmas tree, and Wenceslas Square is a short walk away. For a view down onto the Old Town Square stalls, the Old Town Hall tower is on the same square.
24 December: this is the last day for the neighbourhood markets, and probably a short one in the city centre too, going by last year's Wenceslas Square hours.
25 December to 6 January: only Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square remain. If you are in town over New Year, they are your choice.
Prague Castle at Christmas
In 2025 the castle ran a free Christmas Stroll rather than a market. It was a walk with three stops: an enchanted forest at the Riding School terrace, the Chapel of the Holy Cross in the second courtyard and art workshops at Mocker's House on St George's Square. It ran from 29 November 2025 to 4 January 2026: until 21 December on weekdays 14:00–18:00 and at weekends 10:00–18:00, then daily 10:00–18:00. It was closed on 24 and 31 December.

Getting around and paying
Wenceslas Square and Old Town Square are within walking distance of each other; the neighbourhood squares are further out.
