Decisions to make before you travel

  • How do you get in from the airport? Trolleybus 59 to Nádraží Veleslavín and metro line A on one 90-minute PID ticket: 50 CZK on paper or 46 CZK in the PID Lítačka app. The direct Airport Express bus costs 200 CZK and does not take PID tickets (PID and Letiště Praha, checked 19 October 2026).
  • Which transport ticket? 30 minutes 39 CZK, 90 minutes 50 CZK, 24 hours 150 CZK, 72 hours 350 CZK on paper, a few koruna less in the app. The 24- and 72-hour tickets also cover the Petřín funicular.
  • Where do you change money? Anywhere you like, but know the rule: at a Czech bureau you can cancel an exchange within 3 hours, free, for up to €1,000 of what you handed over (Czech National Bank). When a card terminal offers your home currency, pay in koruna instead.
  • What needs a ticket? St Vitus Cathedral no longer has a free zone: it is part of the castle's CZK 450 main circuit. The Jewish Museum's CZK 600 ticket now includes the Old-New Synagogue and is closed on Saturdays. The Sedlec Ossuary in Kutná Hora sells fixed time slots.
  • What is free? Walking the castle courtyards from 6:00 to 22:00, watching the astronomical clock from Old Town Square, and Český Krumlov's castle garden.
  • What does the hotel add? A city fee of 50 CZK per person per night; under-18s are exempt.

Kutná Hora is about an hour by train with hourly departures, per CzechTourism; book the ossuary slot first and add St Barbara's Cathedral (CZK 180). Český Krumlov is a longer day: FlixBus's fastest direct bus takes 2 hours 35 minutes, while the train with a change at České Budějovice takes about 4 to 5 hours, per the castle's own travel page. See Kutná Hora by train and Prague to Český Krumlov.

Several of these sites changed hours or rules in 2026, and some official pages lag behind each other, including the Petřín pages and the AE bus hours. Each guide names the page it follows and the date it was checked; open that page again for your travel dates.
