What one ticket covers
There is no separate ticket for Napoleon's tomb. The opening times and prices page says the "Museum and exhibitions" ticket includes:
- the permanent collections;
- the Church of the Dôme and the Tomb of Napoleon I;
- the current temporary exhibition;
- the Musée de l'Ordre de la Libération;
- the Musée des Plans-Reliefs.
Both shows on the exhibitions page are included with the museum ticket: the Saison américaine programme on the 250th anniversary of American independence runs until 30 November 2026, and De Gaulle avant de Gaulle runs from 21 November 2026 to 20 June 2027.
Prices and who pays what
| Ticket | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Museum and exhibitions, full | €17 | Any open day |
| Reduced | €12 | Proof required at entry |
| First-Friday late opening | €10 | 18:00–22:00 |
| Combined with Musée Rodin | €26 | Valid three months |
| Guided tour or activity | €20 | €15 for those eligible for reduced or free entry |
The reduced rate covers groups of 10 or more with a booking, veterans, holders of French large-family cards, the CMN card, and Navigo monthly or annual pass holders. It also covers holders of the Paris Visite travel pass sold to visitors, so keep that pass with you if you bought one.
The Rodin combination costs €26 instead of €30 for the two full tickets, and both museums are served by Varenne station on line 13; our Musée Rodin guide has the garden-only option too.
Free entry rules
The museum's free admission page and its French conditions document list free entry for, among others:
- Under 18s of any nationality, with official ID.
- Residents of the EU, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein under 26, with ID or a residence document. This covers the permanent collections only, so a temporary exhibition is not included.
- Disabled visitors and one companion.
- Active, retired and reserve military personnel.
- Jobseekers resident in the EU or EEA, with proof dated within six months.
- ICOM members, journalists with a press card, and holders of the French Pass Education.
No free first-Sunday rule is published, so do not plan around one.

Hours, late Fridays and closed days
The museum and the Hôtel national des Invalides are open every day from 10:00 to 18:00, and the tills close 30 minutes before closing. It shuts on 1 January, 1 May and 25 December. Our guide to Paris museums at Christmas and New Year covers what else is open on those days.
On the first Friday of each month the museum reopens from 18:00 to 22:00 for €10, with the Dôme, the collections and the exhibition all open. In the coming months those evenings fall on 6 November and 4 December 2026. The first Friday of January 2027 is 1 January, a closed day; the museum had not said on 25 October 2026 whether that evening moves.
Booking and changes
No time slot is required. Online tickets can be shown on a phone; without a phone you must print them, as you cannot enter without one. The ticket office page says you can move your visit date online using the 14-digit number under the barcode, but tickets are not refundable except when the museum cancels or closes on your date.
With a Paris Museum Pass you do not need to book; show the pass at the entrance. The museum lists the pass at €70 for 2 days, €90 for 4 days and €110 for 6 days. Whether it pays off depends on how many other sites you add, which our Paris Museum Pass guide works through.
Getting there and which entrance to use
The access page lists two entrances: 129 rue de Grenelle on the Esplanade des Invalides side, and 2 place Vauban on the Dôme side, next to the Vauban ticket office. Visitors with reduced mobility are directed to the Grenelle entrance.
- Metro line 8: La Tour-Maubourg (avenue de La Motte-Picquet) or Invalides (rue de l'Université).
- Metro line 13: Varenne (boulevard des Invalides).
- RER C: Invalides.
- Bus: 28 (La Tour-Maubourg), 69 (Varenne), and 63, 82, 83, 92 and 93 (Invalides).
If Napoleon's tomb is your main goal, the Place Vauban entrance puts you at the Dôme first; if you are coming for the collections or a first-Friday evening, use rue de Grenelle.
