Musée d'Orsay ticket prices

The museum's rates page gives two prices for most tickets: one for online purchase and a lower one at the museum (checked 12 October 2026).

Ticket Online At the museum
General admission €16 €14
Reduced rate Not sold online €11
Thursday late opening (visits from 18:00) €12 €10
Enfant & Cie (adult with a child) €13 €11

Every ticket covers the permanent collection and the temporary exhibitions, subject to availability. It is valid for one admission, and the museum states that any exit is final.

The rates page says only "see the full list" for the reduced rate, so check it before you count on €11. Enfant & Cie is a family fare: up to two adults who are EU residents, accompanying someone under 18. Online, the adult and child tickets have to be booked together.

No separate rate for non-European visitors

Several Paris sites, the Louvre among them, now charge visitors from outside the EEA a higher price. The Orsay rates page, read on 12 October 2026, shows no such split: the €16 or €14 general ticket applies whatever your nationality. Where European status does matter is free entry at 18 to 25, below.

Who gets in free

The rates page lists free admission for:

  • Everyone on the first Sunday of the month, with a mandatory slot reservation
  • Visitors under 18
  • 18 to 25-year-olds from the European Union or the European Economic Area
  • 18 to 25-year-olds who are not EU citizens but are long-term residents of France or another EU country (the young adults page says more than three months)
  • Disabled visitors with one companion, jobseekers, holders of a valid Pass éducation and members of the museum's friends societies

A 22-year-old visiting from the United States or Korea does not fall into the free 18–25 group, and pays €16 online or €14 at the desk like any other adult.

What a group pays

These totals use the checked rates for a normal weekday visit:

  • Two adults from outside Europe, with a 16-year-old and a 22-year-old: the 16-year-old is free, so three paid tickets cost €48 online or €42 at the desk.
  • Two EU-resident adults with a 12-year-old: two Enfant & Cie tickets cost €26 online or €22 at the desk; the child is free.
  • Two adults on a Thursday evening: €24 online or €20 at the desk, for visits starting from 18:00.

If you are adding the Louvre and other museums to the same trip, compare these with the Paris Museum Pass in our guide Is the Paris Museum Pass Worth It?. The Orsay visit page says pass holders who want timed entry must reserve on the Paris Museum Pass website.

Time slots and the two entrances

The museum stays open, with all collections and exhibitions accessible, during a renovation that runs from 10 March 2026 to summer 2028. The renovation page says online booking is highly recommended, makes a time slot mandatory from 10 March 2026 for Paris Museum Pass holders using the Quay entrance, and asks visitors to arrive at least 15 minutes before their slot (checked 12 October 2026).

Entrance Who uses it
Entrance 1, Quay Timed tickets for the collections or an exhibition; Paris Museum Pass holders with a timed reservation
Entrance 2, Forecourt Priority visitors, non-timed tickets, visitors without a ticket, groups, visitors with luggage, reduced mobility

That is the trade-off behind the two prices: online costs €2 more but gets you a slot at the Quay entrance; buying at the desk is cheaper but you join the Forecourt line without a fixed time.

Opening hours and closed days

From the Orsay visit page, checked 12 October 2026:

  • Tuesday to Sunday, 9:30 to 18:00; last admission 17:00, galleries close from 17:30
  • Thursday, 9:30 to 21:45; last admission 21:00, galleries close from 21:15
  • Closed every Monday, and on 1 May and 25 December

Last admission to temporary exhibitions is 17:15 on normal days. The Louvre has a different closing day, so the two museums can share a week without clashing; our guide to Louvre tickets and time slots has its rates and hours.

Bags and the cloakroom

The services page describes a free self-service cloakroom. Large backpacks, motorcycle helmets, large umbrellas and cabin-size suitcases up to 56 × 45 × 25 cm must be left there. The page says nothing about bigger suitcases, so store anything larger than a cabin case before you come. The renovation page sends visitors with luggage to Entrance 2.

The Batobus river shuttle has a Musée d'Orsay stop; our comparison of Seine river cruises and the Batobus shows when a hop-on pass makes sense for a museum day.
