Ticket prices and who pays what

The museum's plan-your-visit page lists one general ticket and one reduced rate:

Visitor Price
Adult, general admission €12
Over 65, students, ages 19–25, Chamber of Fine Arts cardholders, groups of 12 or more €9
Under 18 Free
Visitors with disabilities and their companion Free
Archaeology and art history students Free
Cycladic Friends members Free

Other free categories include unemployed Greek citizens with a current unemployment card, Ministry of Culture staff and free-pass holders, ICOM and ICOMOS members, journalists and qualified tour guides. Bring proof for any reduced or free category, such as a passport for age-based rates.

On the museum's ticket page, general admission is described as covering the permanent exhibitions, the temporary exhibition and a family kit. No separate temporary-exhibition price is shown.

Free days

The Museum of Cycladic Art publishes no free-admission days or evenings on its visit page. Free entry depends on the category you belong to, not the date.

Opening hours and the Thursday late opening

Day Hours
Monday 10:00–17:00
Tuesday Closed
Wednesday 10:00–17:00
Thursday 10:00–20:00
Friday 10:00–17:00
Saturday 10:00–17:00
Sunday 11:00–17:00

Last entry is 15 minutes before closing. Thursday is the day to choose if you want to spend the morning at an archaeological site and see the museum afterwards, since the other days close at 17:00. It is also the museum's only evening opening; for other sites' winter closing times, see our guide to Athens winter hours and holiday closures.

Monday opening is useful too. The museum is open on Mondays, when you can pair it with the National Archaeological Museum for a full day of Greek antiquities; check that museum's hours for the day you choose.

Athens, Greece

Booking and the current entrance

The ticket page sells electronic tickets for general admission, and the museum recommends booking that way. It does not say whether tickets are also sold at the door, so booking online the day before is the safer choice. There are no published time slots.

The museum occupies two connected buildings. The main building at 4 Neophytou Douka Street holds the permanent collections, café and shop; the Stathatos Mansion holds temporary exhibitions. The visit page says the Neophytou Douka entrance has been under construction since 19 May 2025, so all visitors use the Stathatos Mansion entrance at Vasilissis Sofias Avenue and 1 Irodotou Street and walk through the connecting corridor.

Bags and rules

Handbags are allowed in the galleries. Lockers are provided for backpacks and small luggage, which helps if you are visiting on a departure day. Photography is allowed without flash or tripod for personal use; video is not. Phones should be on silent.

Getting to the Museum of Cycladic Art

The museum's visit page lists these routes:

  1. Metro: Evangelismos (line 3), about 500 m; or Syntagma (lines 2 and 3), about 600 m.
  2. Bus and trolleybus: stops Rigilis and Byzantine Museum/Rigilis, served by lines 3, 203, 211, 214, 220, 221, 224, 235, 608, 622, 815, A5, E14 and X95.
  3. On foot: about 10 minutes from Syntagma Square, or 3 minutes from Filikis Etairias Square.

If you are already in the centre, the walk from Syntagma Square needs no ticket at all. Our Athens transport tickets guide explains fares and tap-to-pay.
