What a ticket costs

Two official sources disagree on the full price. The museum's own tickets page still shows a notice effective 1 January 2024 setting the full ticket at €16, and its visit page also quotes €16. The Ministry of Culture, which runs the museum, published an announcement on 11 March 2026 saying the Accademia ticket went from €16 to €20 on 1 February 2026, while reduced and free tickets stayed the same. The ministry notice is newer and specific, so this guide uses €20. Budget €20; the price shown at the official B-Ticket checkout before you pay is the one that counts.

Ticket Price Notes
Full price €20 Ministry figure; museum pages still say €16
Full price with time slot €24 €20 + €4 booking fee
Reduced €2 EU citizens aged 18–25
Under 18 Free Any nationality, with ID
Accademia + Bargello, 48 hours €26 Two museums only
Five-museum ticket, 72 hours €38 Plus a €3 reservation fee if booked

The €4 fee applies whether you book online or by phone, says the Accademia tickets page. The museum lists the free categories in detail, including disabled visitors with a companion, EU-licensed guides and ICOM members. Free tickets are collected at the ticket office with ID and the relevant proof.

Should you book a time slot?

Booking is not compulsory, but the Accademia says reservations are "highly recommended" and that without one "the wait for access may be long". For a short trip, the €4 buys you a fixed entry time.

The visit page names B-Ticket as the only official sales channel authorised by the Ministry of Culture. You can also book by phone with Firenze Musei on +39 055 294883. Neither the Accademia's ticket and visit pages nor the institute's combined-ticket page publishes a refund, cancellation or change rule. Read the terms shown at the B-Ticket checkout before paying, and book a slot you are confident you can keep.

Combined tickets with the Bargello and Medici Chapels

Since 15 March 2026 the Accademia has been sold together with the museums of the same state institute. The ministry lists two combined tickets:

  • €26, valid 48 hours: Accademia and the Museo Nazionale del Bargello.
  • €38, valid 72 hours: Accademia, Bargello, Medici Chapels, Orsanmichele and Palazzo Davanzati, over three consecutive days.

The Bargello museum page confirms both prices. The 72-hour ticket page adds a €3 reservation fee when booking through B-Ticket.

Here is how the maths works for one adult, using the ministry's single prices (Bargello €12, Medici Chapels €11):

  • David only: €20, or €24 booked. No combined ticket helps.
  • David and the Bargello: €32 as two single tickets, against €26 for the 48-hour ticket. The combined ticket saves €6.
  • David, the Bargello and the Medici Chapels: €43 as three single tickets, against €38 for the 72-hour ticket. That saves €5, and Orsanmichele and Palazzo Davanzati come free.
  • David and the Medici Chapels only: €31 as two single tickets, cheaper than the €38 72-hour ticket.

Our Medici Chapels guide covers the third museum in that bundle, including Michelangelo's Secret Room. If your list also includes civic museums such as Palazzo Vecchio, compare these tickets with the Firenze Card.

Opening hours and closures

The visit page gives these hours (checked 30 October 2026):

  • Open: Tuesday to Sunday, 08:15–18:50.
  • Last admission: 18:20, 30 minutes before closing.
  • Closed: every Monday, 1 January and 25 December.

From 18:40 staff close the ground-floor musical instrument rooms and the first-floor exhibition rooms, so arriving near last admission leaves you mainly the David gallery. The Uffizi also closes on Mondays, as our Uffizi tickets guide explains, so a Monday is a poor day for either.

The museum's visit page also lists 25 April, 2 June and 4 November as free days, but only for 2025; it had not published a 2026 list when checked. Do not plan around Wednesday 4 November 2026 as a free day unless the Accademia's site confirms it. The institute's Bargello page announces a special Monday evening opening on 30 November 2026, 17:15–21:00, without saying which of its museums take part, and the Accademia's own pages do not mention it, so treat that evening as unconfirmed for David.

Bags, security and accessibility

The Accademia has no cloakroom, so pack light. The visit page says:

  • Large bags, backpacks and helmets are not allowed in.
  • Water bottles up to 0.5 litres are allowed.
  • Scissors, blades and similar metal objects are taken at security.

The entrance and ticket office are at Via Ricasoli 60.
