What the ticket costs and what it covers

Prague City Tourism's Lobkowicz Palace page (modified 9 July 2026) lists three admission prices:

Ticket Price
Basic (adult) CZK 380
Reduced CZK 310
Family CZK 910

Neither that page nor the palace's own pages define who counts as reduced or how many people a family ticket covers. The Prague Visitor Pass listing applies the CZK 310 price to students and children, which is a useful hint but not the palace's own rule. If you are relying on a reduced or family ticket, check the category description in the palace's ticket shop before paying.

The palace's ticket shop runs through a booking widget whose prices did not display when we checked, so the figures above come from the city tourism board; its CZK 380 and CZK 310 rates match the Visitor Pass listing. The palace's Czech page has a "Cena vstupného" (admission price) heading with nothing under it.

The audio guide is included

The palace's Czech page states that the audio guide is included in the price of the ticket and is available in 12 languages. The English museum page adds that the English version is narrated by two generations of the Lobkowicz family and the collection's curators, and gives the visit as 1 hour 30 minutes through 21 galleries.

Those galleries hold paintings by Bruegel the Elder, Canaletto and Velázquez, and music manuscripts including Beethoven's Third, Fourth and Fifth Symphonies and Mozart's reorchestration of Handel's Messiah. A separate audio tour of under 30 minutes, "Prague InSpires Panorama", points out the city's landmarks from the palace balcony; the museum page does not give its price.

It is not part of the Prague Castle ticket

The palace is inside the castle complex, at Jiřská 3, but it is run by the House of Lobkowicz, which sells its own tickets, not by the Prague Castle Administration. The Prague Castle price list covers the main circuit (St Vitus Cathedral, Old Royal Palace, St George's Basilica, Golden Lane) at CZK 450, the permanent exhibitions and the cathedral tower; Lobkowicz Palace does not appear on it.

For one adult who wants both, that means CZK 450 plus CZK 380, so CZK 830 in total. Our Prague Castle tickets guide explains the circuits, the two-day validity and which courtyards are free.

The palace's ticket list also names a combined tour of Lobkowicz Palace and Prague Castle. Its price and contents did not load, so compare it with the CZK 830 total before you choose it.

Prague Visitor Pass holders go free

The Prague Visitor Pass listing shows free admission for adults, students and children with the pass. The city's Prague Visitor Pass page prices the adult pass at CZK 2,700 for 48 hours, CZK 3,300 for 72 hours and CZK 3,900 for 120 hours, including public transport. The palace alone does not justify a pass; it makes sense only if you were already going to fill two or three days with the attractions and transport it covers.

Opening hours: which version to trust

Four official pages give four different sets of hours (all checked 29 October 2026):

Source Palace hours
Palace's Czech page Mon–Wed 9:00–17:00, Thu–Sat 9:00–18:00, Sun 9:00–17:00
Palace's older English page Mon–Sun 10:00–18:00
Prague City Tourism Daily 9:00–17:00, January–December
Prague Visitor Pass listing Daily 9:00–18:00

Follow the Czech page. It is the one the palace is keeping current: it carries a notice that on Monday 2 November the palace opens at 10:00 instead of 9:00, which matches the 2026 calendar. The English page still shows a note about "Thursday, October 17th", a date that fell on a Thursday in 2024, so it looks out of date.

In practice, arriving between 10:00 and 16:00 works under every version. Allow 1 hour 30 minutes for the museum, so start by 15:30 on Sunday to Wednesday, or by 16:30 on Thursday to Saturday.

Christmas and New Year

None of the palace's pages lists a closure for 24–26 December or 31 December–1 January, and Prague City Tourism shows it open every day of the year. That is not the same as a confirmed opening on those days. If your visit falls between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day, check the notice at the top of the palace's Czech page in the week you travel. Our Prague Christmas and New Year opening hours guide covers the city's wider holiday pattern.

The daily classical concert

The palace's concerts page lists a concert every day from 13:00 to 14:00 in the Concert Hall, whose ceiling has original mid-17th-century frescoes. A trio of flute, viola and piano plays a programme that runs from Vivaldi and Mozart to Dvořák and Smetana's Vltava.

The page does not state concert prices or whether museum entry is included. The palace sells a concert ticket and a combined palace and concert ticket, and also lists Advent concerts, but their prices did not display. If you want both, plan the museum before or after 13:00–14:00 rather than splitting your visit around it.

Combining it with the castle in one day

From November to March, the castle's opening hours page gives 9:00–16:00 for its historic buildings, while the courtyards stay open 6:00–22:00. Lobkowicz Palace closes at 17:00 or 18:00, later than the castle buildings. On a winter day, do the castle circuit first and finish at the palace.

A workable winter Thursday, for example: castle circuit 9:00–12:00, lunch, concert or museum from 13:00, and out of the palace by 16:30. On a Monday you would need to finish the palace by 17:00, and on 2 November you could not start before 10:00.

Getting there and security

The castle's directions page gives two main approaches:

  • Tram 22 to Pražský hrad. Turn left and walk about five minutes to the second courtyard; the palace is further into the complex at Jiřská 3.
  • Metro line A to Malostranská. Follow the route of tram 22; after about 100 metres turn left onto the Old Castle Stairs and climb the steps to the Na Opyši gate. This approach is a stair climb.

For fares, see our Prague public transport tickets guide.

Police and the Castle Guard carry out random checks at the entrances. The castle's security rules ban firearms, knives and other bladed weapons, explosives, pyrotechnics and other dangerous objects, say refusing a search means being refused entry, and note that the checkpoints have no lockers. Drones are banned over the area.

If the palace is closed or full

The palace's pages mention no time slots or sell-outs for the museum visit. If you want the 13:00 concert on a specific day, buying it through the palace's ticket shop before you go is the safer choice, since the palace does not publish the hall's capacity. If the palace turns out to be shut for an event or a holiday, the Strahov Library is another paid historic interior on the castle side of the river.
