What one ticket covers

The National Museum sells a single ticket for its Museum Complex at the top of Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí 68). According to the Museum Complex page, it includes:

  • the Historical Building, the domed building at the head of the square, a national cultural monument that reopened in 2018;
  • the New Building next door, with the 20th-century history exhibition;
  • the underground connecting passage between them, with the multimedia exhibition Moments of History.

Two things in the New Building need their own ticket: the Czech Press Photo exhibition and the Children's Museum.

Ticket prices

All prices are from the Museum Complex page, checked 24 October 2026:

Ticket Adult Reduced Children under 15
Museum Complex 360 CZK 260 CZK Free with an adult
Czech Press Photo 2025 (until 30 November 2026) 200 CZK 120 CZK Free with an adult
Children's Museum (timed tickets only) 140 CZK per person aged 4+ — Under 4 free

The reduced rate covers seniors over 65, young people aged 15 to 18, ISIC and ITIC card holders, and students up to 26 with a student ID. Under-15s must be with an adult to enter free; in the Children's Museum they must also be accompanied.

Free admission at the box office, with ID, also applies to visitors with a severe-disability card plus one companion or assistant, ICOM members, National Museum Society members and Prague Card (CoolPass) holders.

Online tickets

The tickets page says e-tickets are valid for one entry within 30 days of purchase, can be shown printed or on your phone, and cannot be returned or changed. There is no time slot for the main complex, so buying online mainly saves time at the desk. Only the Children's Museum uses timed tickets.

Free-entry days in 2026

The museum's free-entry list names seven dates in 2026: 12 April, 10 May, 14 June, 6 September, 4 October, 1 November and 6 December. As of 24 October 2026, two remain: Sunday 1 November and Sunday 6 December.

On those days no tickets are sold or reserved. The museum says that if a building is full, entry is suspended for a while. The free days exclude Czech Press Photo and the Children's Museum, so those still need tickets.
