Ticket prices

Tsutenkaku's opening-hours and admission page (in Japanese) gives these prices for the general observation deck:

Visitor Standard 30 Dec 2026 – 3 Jan 2027
Adult (15 and over) ¥1,500 ¥1,800
Child (5–14) ¥800 ¥900
Adult with a disability certificate ¥1,300 ¥1,600
Child with a disability certificate ¥700 ¥800

The disability price also applies to one companion. Group bookings of ten or more are currently suspended. The price list does not show a fare for children under 5. The tower announced new opening hours from March 2026 and new prices from April 2026 on its home page; the figures above are from the current information page.

Disability and group tickets are sold only at the ticket centre on the 1st floor, not online.

Extras: the outdoor deck and the slide

Special outdoor observatory. The open-air deck is open 9:00–21:45 with last entry at 21:35. The outdoor observatory page says it is sold only as a set with the general deck ticket, at the 1st-floor ticket centre, but the price appears only as an image we could not read, so check it at the counter. The route includes stairs, and the tower asks wheelchair users and visitors with limited mobility not to enter. Tripods and monopods are banned, bags may be restricted, and it can close without notice in rain, strong wind or thick fog.

Tower Slider. The slide page describes a tube slide of about 60 metres that drops from the 3rd floor, 22 metres above the ground, to the basement in about 10 seconds. The conditions are strict:

  • ¥1,100 for ages 15–65 and ¥600 for ages 7–14, per ride. The slide page lists observation-deck admission as a separate fee, and tourist passes and vouchers are not accepted for the slide.
  • Not for ages 6 and under or 66 and over, people under 120 cm tall or over 120 kg, or pregnant riders.
  • Children aged 7–12 must ride with a guardian aged 18 or over.
  • Open 9:30–20:30; last ticket at 20:00.
  • Tickets cannot be changed, cancelled or reissued, and the slide can close without notice in heat, cold or damp conditions.

What a family visit costs

For two adults and two children aged 8 and 12, deck tickets come to ¥4,600 at standard prices (2 × ¥1,500 + 2 × ¥800). If all four ride the slide, add ¥3,400 (2 × ¥1,100 + 2 × ¥600), for ¥8,000 in total. Between 30 December and 3 January the deck tickets alone rise to ¥5,400.

Opening hours and timed entry

The general observation deck is open 9:00–21:45, with last entry at 21:15. The tower's information page lists no closing days, and the Osaka tourism bureau describes it as open all year. The tower says schedule changes and closures are announced on its official X account.

The rule most visitors miss is the time slot. The information page says an entry time must be reserved whenever you buy a ticket, that queues can still form on the day, and that tickets can sell out from the evening onwards. The tower recommends buying online in advance through the ticket link on its home page.

The tower has no parking for cars or coaches, so come by train. Its access page lists these walking times:

Shitennoji temple, which the temple's access page puts 12 minutes' walk north of Tennoji Station, makes a good pairing; see our Shitennoji admission guide. Its paid areas close at 16:00 from October to March, so visit the temple first and the tower after dark.
