Ticket prices and who pays what

TFAM's hours and tickets page sets out four ticket types. Prices are in New Taiwan dollars:

Ticket Price Who it is for
General NT$30 Everyone not covered below
Concession NT$15 Children aged 6 to under 12; students aged 12 and over; volunteers at educational or cultural institutions, with ID
Taipei resident NT$15 People registered as Taipei residents, with proof
Group NT$21 Groups of 20 or more

Entry is free for children under 6, people aged 65 and over, visitors with disabilities and one companion, licensed tour guides, and members of ICOM, AAM, CIMAM and some museum associations. Bring ID for any concession or free entry, as you must show it.

Special exhibitions run with private partners are not part of this price table. If the show you want is one of them, its price and ticket rules are set separately.

When entry is free, and when to use it

Two rules make TFAM free for almost anyone at the right time:

  • After 17:00 on any opening day, ticket sales stop and entry is free.
  • On Saturdays, students with a valid student ID get in free all day (the museum calls it Museum Learning Day).

Because the museum closes at 17:30 from Tuesday to Friday and on Sunday, the after-17:00 rule only gives you half an hour on those days. On Saturday it gives three and a half hours, from 17:00 to 20:30.

On Saturday evenings the whole museum stays open except the Wang Da-Hong House theatre, which closes at 17:30. The Chinese version of the hours page also listed the main building's 1F as temporarily closed on 25 October 2026, a notice the English page did not carry, so expect part of the ground floor to be shut.

Buying a ticket

You can buy at the museum or online. For general tickets, the Chinese-language page lists EasyCard, cash, online purchase and the TWQR and TPQR QR payment schemes. If you already carry an EasyCard for the MRT, our EasyCard or iPASS guide explains which card to get, and our cash or card guide covers where cash is still needed.

Online tickets are sold through Taipei FunPASS, KKday, Klook, ibon and TRIP. The museum says refunds and problems with those tickets are handled by the platform you bought from, not by the museum. At NT$30 there is no queue-skipping benefit described, so buying online is only worth it if you already use one of those platforms or a pass that includes TFAM.

Rules that affect what you carry

The museum asks visitors to check bags before entering:

  • Backpacks of any size and anything larger than 40 × 30 × 20 cm go to the lobby service centre.
  • No food in the galleries; water bottles must stay in your bag, and there is a rest area by the water fountains.
  • Umbrellas: leave long ones in the outdoor stands; short ones can go in your bag.
  • Photography: non-commercial photos are allowed unless signs say otherwise, but not of video works or films. Flash, tripods, gimbals and selfie sticks are banned.
  • No pets except guide dogs, and no flammable or sharp items.

Getting to TFAM

The museum is at No. 181, Zhongshan North Road Section 3. Its transport page gives these routes:

  1. MRT: ride to Yuanshan Station and leave by Exit 1. Walk through the Yuanshan section of Expo Park, turn left onto Zhongshan North Road Section 3, and the museum is ahead on the right.
  2. Bus: many routes stop at "Taipei Fine Arts Museum" (臺北市立美術館), including 21, 42, 208, 218, 247, 260, 612 and Red 2; the museum notes that 21 and Red 2 are wheelchair-accessible buses. Northbound buses stop in front of the museum; southbound towards Taipei Main Station stop at the Expo Park trail junction. Routes 203, 277, 279 and 612 stop northbound only.
  3. Car: a temporary car park on Zhongshan North Road Section 3 charges NT$30 an hour on weekdays and NT$40 an hour on weekends and holidays, and takes cards, EasyCard and LINE Pay but not cash.

If TFAM is not the right stop

TFAM is closed every Monday, so move it to another day rather than travelling out on spec. For planning a first trip around closure days and neighbourhoods, see what to know before visiting Taipei.
