What time do the last Airport MRT trains leave?
Taoyuan Metro's station timetables, read on 3 October 2026, show these last departures towards Taipei Main Station (A1):

The airport's own MRT page gives the journey to Taipei Main Station as about 39 minutes by express and 53 minutes by commuter from Terminal 1, with a NT$160 adult fare (Taoyuan Airport MRT page, last updated 3 February 2025). Will the last train connect with the Taipei Metro?
Only just, and only on some lines. A commuter train leaving Terminal 1 at 23:37 reaches A1 at 00:26 (Taoyuan Metro timetable). Taipei Metro's Taipei Main Station first and last train sheet lists the last departures from that station at 00:36 (Red line to Tamsui), 00:45 (Red line to Guangci/Fengtian Temple) and 00:49 (Blue line in both directions). Transfers further along are earlier: for example, the last connection onto the Brown line at Daan is 00:17. You also need to walk from the Airport MRT station to the Taipei Metro platforms.
The practical rule: if your hotel needs a Taipei Metro transfer and you can only make the last commuter train, plan on a taxi from Taipei Main Station or take a taxi from the airport instead.
Which bus runs overnight to Taipei?
Kuo-Kuang Motor Transport route 1819 runs to Taipei Bus Station, next to Taipei Main Station, through the night. The Highway Bureau's route 1819 timetable for the week of 3 October 2026 lists these departures from Terminal 2 after 23:30:
- 23:30, 23:40, 23:50
- 00:20, 00:30, 00:40, 00:50, 01:05, 01:20, 01:40, 01:50, 02:00
- 02:30, 02:50, 03:10, 03:40, 04:10, 04:40
- 05:00 (Monday to Friday only), 05:20, 05:50
Branch route 1819B (via Nankan, a longer trip) adds departures at 00:10 and 01:30. The timetable lists Terminal 2 times only. Terminal 1 passengers board at the B1 bus area of the arrivals hall, and the airport's bus page gives the trip as about 55 minutes for 1819 and 70–80 minutes for 1819B.
The airport's facilities directory lists the Kuo-Kuang ticket counter in Terminal 1 (B1) as open 24 hours, while the Terminal 2 counter is listed as 07:30–22:20. Ask at the Terminal 1 counter for the time the bus calls there, or walk to the Terminal 2 stop (outdoor gallery on the east side of the 1F arrivals hall). The fare was not on the pages checked, so confirm it at the counter.
How much is a taxi from Taoyuan Airport at night?
The airport says its taxi service runs 24 hours a day, all year, and charges by the meter with highway tolls extra. The airport taxi fleet's estimated fare table gives NT$1,200–1,900 to Taipei City and NT$1,000–2,000 to New Taipei City, with the actual amount set by the meter. Neither page publishes a separate night surcharge, so ask at the taxi desk if you want a firmer estimate.
According to the fleet's FAQ, the taxi desks are on the west side of the 1F arrivals hall, at Gate 12 in Terminal 1 and across the lane from Gate 26 in Terminal 2. Cars seat four or five, and drivers may refuse a ride if passengers and luggage exceed the car's capacity, so mention extra luggage at the desk. You can pay in cash, by bank card, or with Apple Pay, Google Pay, LINE Pay and other listed wallets. Wheelchair-accessible taxis can be requested on +886-3-3982832.

A taxi is the only door-to-door option at night. For groups of three or four sharing one car, a taxi can be worth comparing with several bus fares plus a city taxi at the other end.
What is open if you wait at the airport?
The airport's Services & Facilities directory, checked on 3 October 2026, lists these services as open 00:00–24:00:
- Currency exchange: Bank of Taiwan on 1F of both terminals, and Mega Bank on 1F of Terminal 2.
- Convenience stores: 7-Eleven on B1 of Terminal 1, and 7-Eleven and FamilyMart on 5F of Terminal 2.
- Sleep: CHO Stay capsule hotel on 5F of Terminal 2.
- Showers: several shower facilities in both terminals, some listed as 24 hours and others with daytime hours only.
Luggage storage by Pelican Express is listed as available 24 hours, priced by bag size and charged in 3-hour units, and smart lockers cost NT$40, NT$60 or NT$80 per 3 hours, payable by EasyCard or cash (baggage storage page, dated 6 July 2022, so check prices on the day). If your plan falls through
- Flight delayed past 23:35: go straight to bus 1819 or the taxi desk. Don't wait at the MRT platform hoping for a later Taipei train.
- Long queue at the taxi desk: the 1819 bus runs every 10–40 minutes overnight, so it is a real fallback, not a last resort.
