Jim Thompson House ticket prices
The museum's visitor information page lists these admission prices (checked 12 October 2026):
| Visitor | Price |
|---|---|
| Adult | 250 baht |
| Ages 10–21, with ID or passport | 150 baht |
| Visitor with a disability | 150 baht |
| Children aged 0–9 | Free, with an adult |
| Thai Buddhist monks, press, tourist guides and tour leaders | Free, identity card required |
For two adults with a 15-year-old and an 8-year-old, the total is 650 baht: 250 + 250 + 150, with the 8-year-old free. A couple of 22-year-olds pays the adult rate, 500 baht, because the reduced rate stops at 21. Bring the passport of anyone aged 10–21, because the reduced price needs ID.
The Art Center on the same site
The Jim Thompson Art Center shares the address, 6 Soi Kasemsan 2. Its home page lists 50 baht for an adult visiting the Art Center only, and 250 baht for a combined ticket covering the Jim Thompson House Museum and the Art Center, with members and "students under 10" free. It is open every day from 10:00 to 18:00, an hour longer than the house, and its current exhibition, "And Still, Another After", runs from 10 October 2026 to 29 March 2027 (checked 12 October 2026).
The combined price is the same as the house's adult price, which suggests an adult house ticket covers the Art Center too, but the museum's own page does not say so. Ask at the ticket office before paying 50 baht separately.
How the guided tour works
The museum states that visitors are not allowed into the main house without a guide, and that guides speak Thai, English, French, Chinese and Japanese. Neither official page publishes how often tours leave, how long they take or how big the groups are, so allow for a wait at the ticket office before your language group starts.
Before the tour, the visitor information page sets these rules:
- Show your ticket to staff before entering the museum area.
- Take your shoes off before entering the main house.
- Leave bags larger than 20 cm in the locker area, which is watched by CCTV.
- Photos inside the house are allowed, but not flash, selfies, individual portraits or video.
- The whole museum is smoke-free, and smoking devices are banned.
Booking online or walking in
The museum's home page announces online ticket sales from 8 September 2026, while its visitor information still reads "No reservation required". The two fit together: you can book ahead, but you do not have to. The home page adds that if online reservations are full, walk-in tours are still available during the day and you should contact the ticket office.
For online tickets, the visitor information page names the museum's authorised booking partners as Viator and GetYourGuide, and the home page asks visitors to buy through its authorised platforms and to beware of scammers (checked 12 October 2026). Their prices and cancellation terms are set by those resellers and were not checked for this guide, so compare them with the 250-baht price at the door.
Who should book ahead: a group that needs a specific language, or anyone with only one free afternoon. Who can just turn up: most travellers with a flexible day, since the museum says walk-in tours continue when online slots run out. Arrive well before 17:00, the time of the last guided tour.
Opening hours
The museum is open every day from 10:00 to 17:00, with the last guided tour at 17:00 (checked 12 October 2026). The official pages list no weekly closing day and no holiday closures. The Art Center stays open until 18:00.
Getting to Jim Thompson House
The address is 6 Soi Kasemsan 2, Rama 1 Road, Bangkok 10330, phone +66 2 216 7368. The museum recommends the BTS Skytrain to National Stadium station, exit 1, and also mentions car, taxi and tuk-tuk; it gives no parking details. The Art Center's home page adds that the site is about a 3-minute walk from National Stadium exit 1, and about 3 minutes from Hua Chang pier on the Saen Saep canal boat. This guide does not give canal-boat fares or hours, because the canal operator's site could not be used for checking.
If you have not used the Skytrain yet, our guide to using BTS and MRT for the first time covers fares and paying by card. Jim Thompson House also pairs with a temple day: our guide to Wat Pho tickets, hours and massage covers that temple's fee and opening hours, so you can put Wat Pho in the morning and the house in the afternoon, before the 17:00 last tour.
