Tower of London ticket prices
Historic Royal Palaces' tickets page gives each price with and without a voluntary 10% donation (checked 9 October 2026). You choose at checkout; the entry you get is the same.
| Ticket | Without donation | With donation |
|---|---|---|
| Adult (18-64) | £38.00 | £41.80 |
| Senior (65+), full-time student (18+), disabled concession | £30.30 | £33.40 |
| Young person (16-17) | £19.00 | £21.00 |
| Child (5-15) | £19.00 | £21.00 |
| Child (0-4) | Free | Free |
| Disabled visitor's carer or companion | Free | Free |
| Groups of 15 or more, per person | £35.00 | Not offered |
There is no family ticket, so a family pays per person. Two adults with two children aged 5–15 pay £114 without donations. The same family with one child under 5 pays £95. One carer ticket can be booked online with a disabled concession; extra carer tickets need an email to Historic Royal Palaces with the booking reference.
Historic Royal Palaces membership, from £65 a year on the same page, includes free entry, and members do not need to pre-book general admission. Reduced £1 tickets are limited to recipients of listed UK benefits and must be booked online in advance.
Online or at the gate?
The tickets page and the Tower FAQ say you can book online or buy on the day at the ticket office. Historic Royal Palaces publishes one set of prices, with no separate gate price. The difference is availability: the FAQ recommends pre-booking "to avoid disappointment", and admission tickets are released a few months ahead.
Book online if you are visiting on a weekend, a UK school holiday or a gun salute day, or if you are in a group. A walk-up visit works best on an ordinary weekday when you can switch plans if the ticket office is busy. Either way, each ticket is valid for one entry, with no re-entry.
Opening hours and last entry
Hours change by date, so check Historic Royal Palaces' opening and closing times page, which shows hours for each day. For the week starting 5 October 2026 it showed (checked 9 October 2026):
- Tuesday to Saturday: 09:00–17:30
- Sunday and Monday: 10:00–17:30
- Last entry 16:30; buildings close 17:30
- Last Yeoman Warder guided tour: 15:15
The page does not publish winter or Christmas hours in advance as a list. Pick your date on that page before you book.
Parts of the site close at short notice. The same page lists route closures, early closures of Mint Street and possible closures of the Chapel Royal of St Peter ad Vincula. On gun salute days, salutes are at 13:00, the 13:00 Yeoman Warder tour is cancelled and tours resume at 13:30, and the riverside Wharf closes at least an hour beforehand.
Seeing the Crown Jewels
The Crown Jewels are in the Jewel House and are included in standard admission; members also go free. The Crown Jewels page advises allowing one hour and says photography is not allowed in the Jewel House (checked 9 October 2026).
Historic Royal Palaces does not publish Jewel House queue times. Its FAQ says there is no fast-track entry option, that some queuing is expected on most days, and ties the three-hour recommendation to queues, so the queue is the main variable in your visit. If the Jewel House is your priority, see it before joining a later Yeoman Warder tour. The last tour starts at 15:15 and the last entry is at 16:30, so leaving the Jewels until late afternoon risks missing them.
Yeoman Warder tours and paid upgrades
Yeoman Warder tours are included in the ticket, subject to availability, with the last one at 15:15. Blue Badge guides may also guide inside the Tower if you book them separately.
The tickets page also lists paid experiences (prices without donation, checked 9 October 2026):
| Experience | Adult | Child (5-15) | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Opening Ceremony experience | £62.00 | £33.50 | Concession £49.50 |
| Ravens experience | £90.00 | £50.00 | Concession £70.00 |
| Ghost tour | £49.00 | £29.00 | Recommended for ages 12+ |
| Keys Club | £20.00 | Not listed | Tuesdays and Thursdays; needs a Tower ticket or membership |
From 27 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, Christmas at the Tower is included in admission, according to the Tower's visit page.
Bags, arrival and what fails
The Tower has no left luggage or bag storage. Suitcases, large bags and any rolling luggage are not allowed inside, and Historic Royal Palaces does not give a size limit. If you are between hotel checkout and a train or flight, use luggage storage in London first.
The visit page puts the Tower about 5 minutes' walk from Tower Hill Underground station, with Monument, Bank and London Bridge also nearby. The Tower is the Day 3 anchor of the three-day zone 1 walking itinerary.
What to do if the plan breaks:
- Sold out online: buy at the ticket office on the day if there is availability. Historic Royal Palaces does not promise ticket office availability.
- A gun salute or route closure on your date: keep the visit, but plan the Yeoman Warder tour around 13:00 and check which areas are shut.
- Arriving mid-afternoon: see the Crown Jewels first, then join a Yeoman Warder tour only if you can make the last 15:15 start.
For a second paid sight on the same trip, compare with Westminster Abbey tickets and opening hours, which closes for sightseeing on Sundays.
