How much are Belvedere tickets?
The Belvedere is three venues, and each has its own price. The Belvedere visit page lists these single and combined tickets (checked 19 October 2026):
| Ticket | Full | Seniors 65+ / students under 26 | Under 19 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upper Belvedere (The Kiss) | €23 | €19 | Free |
| Lower Belvedere | €20 | €16 | Free |
| 2-in-1 day ticket: Upper + Lower | €32 | €25 | Free |
| 3-in-1 day ticket: adds Belvedere 21 | €34 | €27 | Free |
| Gold Pass: all three, no slot needed | €49 | €29 Gold Pass U26 (under 26 only) | n/a |
Vienna City Card holders pay €21.50 for the Upper Belvedere, and Disability Card holders pay €8, with a free companion when the card notes the need. An audio guide for the Upper Belvedere permanent collection costs €5.
The ticket page shows "the prices that are valid on the day of your visit". So treat the figures above as what applied on 19 October 2026, and expect the checkout to show the price for your date.
Is the Upper and Lower combo worth it?
Bought separately, Upper and Lower cost €43. The 2-in-1 ticket is €32, so the Lower Belvedere effectively costs €9 extra. That is a fair price if its temporary exhibitions interest you. When checked, the Lower Belvedere page listed an Erika Giovanna Klien show until 31 January 2027 and an Erna Rosenstein show until 10 January 2027, plus the medieval and Renaissance gallery.
If you came only for Klimt, skip it. The Kiss and the rest of the permanent collection are in the Upper Belvedere, and the €23 ticket covers them. If you have a spare half-day for another palace, our Schönbrunn tickets guide compares its tour options.
Some worked totals at the 19 October 2026 prices:
- Two adults and a 15-year-old, Upper only: €46. The teenager is free but needs a slot.
- The same family with the 2-in-1: €64.
- An adult and a 24-year-old student, 2-in-1: €32 + €25 = €57.
The 3-in-1 adds Belvedere 21, the contemporary venue, for only €2 more than the 2-in-1. When checked, though, the visit page said Belvedere 21 was closed through 4 November for exhibition set-up, so check before paying for it.
Time slots, booking and opening hours
Upper and Lower Belvedere admit only with a timed slot; Belvedere 21 asks you to pick a visit day instead (visit page and FAQ). With a combo ticket, your slot applies to the Upper Belvedere, and you can visit the Lower Belvedere the same day, before or after it. The Belvedere FAQ confirms there is no limit on how long you stay once admitted.
You can buy online or at the ticket office, where you choose a slot from what is left. The Upper Belvedere page says an online ticket lets you go straight to the museum entrance. The FAQ warns of delays at peak times and recommends buying online in advance. The Kiss draws the crowds, so book ahead for weekends and holiday periods rather than queueing for a later slot.
Opening hours (checked 19 October 2026):
- Upper Belvedere: daily 9:00 to 18:00. The page listed extended summer hours, 9:00 to 19:00, from 15 July to 31 August 2026.
- Lower Belvedere: daily 10:00 to 18:00.
- Last admission at both is 30 minutes before closing, and the museum closes on the hour.
Getting there by tram and U-Bahn
The Upper Belvedere is at Prinz-Eugen-Straße 27 in the 3rd district. The Upper Belvedere page lists three approaches:
- Tram D to Schloss Belvedere, the stop for the main palace.
- Tram O or 18, or the train and S-Bahn, to Quartier Belvedere, at the back of the gardens near the main station.
- U1 to Südtiroler Platz / Hauptbahnhof, then about 15 minutes on foot.
The Lower Belvedere is at Rennweg 6, at the other end of the garden. Tram 71 stops at Unteres Belvedere, and tram D at Gußhaustraße. For a combo visit, walk through the palace garden between the two rather than taking another tram.
Our guide to Vienna transit tickets explains which pass to buy and how validation works.
Bags, lockers and accessibility
The Belvedere does not store luggage. The FAQ is blunt: "No, the storage of luggage is not permitted." It does offer free lockers at all locations for coats and day bags. If you are coming from a hotel checkout or on your way to the train, drop suitcases first.
Wheelchairs are available free of charge at all locations, according to the FAQ. For step-free routes inside the palace, ask through the Belvedere's "Inclusion at the Museum" page or the accessibility topic on its contact form, because the pages checked here do not describe lifts.
The Belvedere sits just outside the Ring. Our guide to reading the Ringstrasse suits a walk back into town. If you are pairing it with St Stephen's the same day, the St Stephen's Cathedral tickets guide has the cathedral's visiting windows, which close at midday.
