What you can see right now
The Sisi Museum, the Imperial Apartments of Franz Joseph and Elisabeth, and the Silver Collection share one entrance in the Hofburg. Two of the three are affected this autumn:
- Sisi Museum rooms: closed until the redesigned museum opens on 19 November 2026, according to the ticket page. The Schönbrunn Group, which runs the site, says the new version adds rooms and a new route through museum, apartments and Silver Collection.
- Imperial Apartments: open. The news page says access to the living quarters continues during the work.
- Silver Collection: the FAQ says it has been closed since 1 April 2023 until further notice.
The day ticket page still says in its search description that the price includes the Silver Collection. Its own page text and the FAQ say otherwise, so do not count on it.
Sisi Museum ticket prices
From the official Tickets & Prices page, checked 19 October 2026:
| Ticket | Adult | Ages 6–18 | Students 19–25 | Valid |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Day ticket (reduced rate) | €15 | €9 | €13.50 | until 18 Nov 2026 |
| Day ticket with guided tour | €33 | €22 | €31 | from 20 Nov 2026 |
| Sisi Pass | €60 | €38 | — | from 19 Nov 2026 season |
Disabled visitors and Vienna City Card holders pay €13.50 for the reduced day ticket, €31 for the guided-tour ticket and €51 for the Sisi Pass. The site announces "seasonal price changes" for the day ticket and Sisi Pass from 19 November 2026 but did not show the new day-ticket price on 19 October.
The guided tour lasts about 60 minutes and covers the Sisi Museum and the Imperial Apartments. It runs in English daily at 14:00 and in German at 11:30 and 15:30.
Go now or wait until 19 November?
Go now if the apartments are what you came for. €15 gets you the preserved living quarters of Franz Joseph and Elisabeth, without the museum section. If the Empress's own story is the draw, wait for the reopening on 19 November and its new route with extra rooms. The museum is the part that is closed.
Opening hours and time slots
The opening times page gives daily hours, including public holidays, of 10:00–16:30, with last admission and the ticket office closing at 16:00. Those are the reduced hours that apply until 18 November. The page did not publish hours for the period after the reopening when checked.
Day tickets have fixed admission times. The FAQ says real tickets are sold online only, at imperialtickets.com, and that entry is guaranteed only with an online ticket for a booked slot. There may be queues at busy times without one. Vienna City Card holders reserve their slot at timeslot.schoenbrunn-group.com. Groups of 10 or more book by email.
Audio guides are free in 14 languages, according to the audio guide page. The web version is offline while it is revised.
Is the Sisi Pass worth it?
The Sisi Pass costs €60 for adults and €38 for ages 6–18, with under-6s free. It gives one visit each to Schönbrunn Palace (with an audio-guided palace tour in a fixed 15-minute slot), the Sisi Museum with the Imperial Apartments, and the Vienna Furniture Museum. The Hofburg and Furniture Museum visits need no slot and can be used within a year of purchase.
The arithmetic: Schönbrunn's Palace Ticket alone costs €42. The pass therefore charges €18 for the Hofburg and the Furniture Museum. Until 18 November, a Palace Ticket plus a €15 Hofburg day ticket costs €57, €3 less than the pass, so the pass only pays off if you also visit the Furniture Museum. After the reopening, when the day ticket returns to its full rate, the pass is likely to look better. Check both prices on the day you buy. Our Schönbrunn Palace tickets guide compares the palace's own ticket types.
Finding the entrance
The directions page puts the entrance directly under the great copper dome of the Michaelerkuppel (Hofburg, Michaelerkuppel, 1010 Vienna). You leave on Ballhausplatz.
- U3 to Herrengasse
- Trams 1, 2, D and 71 to Burgring
- Buses 1A and 2A to Hofburg
A single Vienna ticket covers any of these; see Vienna public transport tickets. The Spanish Riding School is also in the Hofburg, at Michaelerplatz 1, so a morning training session pairs well with an afternoon slot here; see our Spanish Riding School tickets guide.
