Imperial Treasury ticket prices
The entrance fees page lists two prices for each category. Buying online saves €2 per paying visitor.
| Ticket | Online | On site |
|---|---|---|
| Adult | €16 | €18 |
| Reduced | €12 | €14 |
| Vienna City Card holder | €17 | — |
| Ages 0–19 | Free | Free |
The reduced rate covers students aged 25 and under, seniors, people with special needs, people doing military or civilian service, the unemployed and Ö1 Club members. The page does not give a minimum age for the senior rate, so bring ID and ask at the desk.
Families with teenagers do well here: a couple with two children under 19 pays €32 online in total.
How the time slots work
The treasury switched to timed entry on 1 April 2026, and the FAQ confirms that every ticket is for a specific date and time. You choose the slot when you buy, online or at the cash desk, subject to availability.
Three rules matter when you book:
- One entry per ticket. The slot fixes when you go in; there is no time limit once you are inside.
- No exchanges or refunds. A missed slot is a lost ticket, so leave a buffer if you are coming from Schönbrunn or a morning tour.
- Under-19s need no ticket. Children and teenagers simply enter with the adults.
The treasury recommends booking ahead in the KHM online shop. It does not publish how quickly slots sell, so if your dates are fixed, book as soon as you know the day, especially for weekends and the Christmas period.
Groups of more than 10 people, including school classes, are admitted only after a confirmed registration.
Combined tickets: which one to buy
The same fees page lists several multi-museum options:
| Option | Price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Habsburg Treasures | €32 | One entry each to the Kunsthistorisches Museum (KHM) and the treasury |
| Empress Elisabeth | €25 | One entry each to the treasury and the Carriage Museum |
| 7 Museums Pass | €53 (U25 €30) | Seven museums for 365 days |
| Bundesmuseen Card | €99 | Listed without details on this page |
Choose Habsburg Treasures if you also want the KHM's Old Masters. Set against the €16 online treasury ticket, it makes the KHM entry cost €16. You book a slot for each museum separately; our Kunsthistorisches Museum tickets guide explains the KHM side and its Thursday late opening.
Choose Empress Elisabeth if your interest is Sisi and imperial ceremony rather than painting. For the Sisi Museum and the Imperial Apartments in the same palace complex, which are run separately and need their own tickets, see our Hofburg tickets guide.
The 7 Museums Pass only makes sense for a long stay or a return visit within a year.

What you see inside
The collection is split into the Secular Treasury and the Ecclesiastical Treasury. The treasury's home page calls the Imperial Crown one of its greatest treasures, and the crown is currently the subject of a research project into its materials and condition.
Audio guides cost €5, or €7 for the "Take 2" version and €8 for a family set (two adults and up to three children). They come in German, English, Italian, French, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin and Ukrainian.
Bags, photos and the cloakroom
- Bags: backpacks and umbrellas must go in the cloakroom or the lockers. The cloakroom is free, but the FAQ says luggage storage is not allowed there.
- Photos: private photos and video are allowed without flash or tripod. Some objects are marked as no-photography.
- Service animals are allowed.
Getting to the Imperial Treasury
The treasury is in the Schweizerhof courtyard of the Hofburg, 1010 Vienna. Its access page lists U2, U3, trams D, 1 and 2, and buses 2A and 57A as the lines that serve it:
- From Westbahnhof: U3 to Volkstheater.
- From the Hauptbahnhof: tram D to Burgring/Kunsthistorisches Museum.
Fares and day passes are in our Vienna public transport guide.
If your slot is gone or it is a Tuesday
If no slot fits on your day, swap the order: see the KHM that day and book the treasury for a later one. On a Tuesday, stay in the Hofburg for another sight, such as the Spanish Riding School, whose own schedule and tickets our guide covers, and come back for the crowns on another day.
