Leopold Museum ticket prices

The ticket page lists one set of prices, with no separate online or box-office rate:

Ticket Price
Regular €19
Reduced (under 26, 65 and over, visitors with disabilities, unemployed) €16
Vienna City Card holders €17
Under 19 €2.50
Under 7 Free
Family 1 (1 adult + up to 3 children under 19) €21
Family 2 (2 adults + up to 3 children under 19) €40

There is no separate student or senior category: students under 26 and anyone 65 or over pay the reduced €16. With a reduced ticket available, the City Card price only helps adults between 26 and 64.

For a family, compare the options. Two adults and two teenagers pay €43 on single tickets (2 × €19 + 2 × €2.50), or €40 on the Family 2 ticket, which also covers a third child.

Online or at the desk

Buy at the museum if your plans are loose. The questions and answers page says online tickets are valid only for the day you select, while tickets bought at the museum are valid for one year from the date of issue. The ticket page lists no time slots for individual visitors; only groups are asked to book a slot.

Either way, treat the purchase as final. The cancellation page says tickets for a specific date are excluded from the right of withdrawal, so refunds are generally not possible.

Combined tickets and the annual pass

The Leopold sells combined tickets with four other Vienna museums:

Combination Price
Leopold Museum + Kunsthistorisches Museum €37
Leopold Museum + MAK €34 (reduced €30)
Leopold Museum + mumok €33 (reduced €29)
Leopold Museum + Sigmund Freud Museum €30

The KHM pairing suits a classic two-museum day: Old Masters at the Kunsthistorisches Museum and Vienna 1900 at the Leopold. Check that guide for the KHM's own time-slot rules before you combine.

The annual pass costs €49, or €36 reduced for visitors under 30, 65 and over, or with disabilities. At €19 a visit, it pays for itself on the third adult visit within a year, which matters mainly for long stays.

Guides and packages

The ticket page lists audio and smartphone guides from €3 to €8, in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Korean. Public guided tours (€5) run in German only, on weekends, holidays and selected days. Two packages bundle the ticket: Schiele Rooftop (ticket, audio guide and a drink, €24) and Sunny Side Art (breakfast, ticket and audio guide, €30).

What you will see

The museum describes its holding as about 9,000 works, including more than 220 by Egon Schiele, which it calls the world's most comprehensive Schiele collection, according to the collection page. The Klimt page names Death and Life (1910/11, reworked 1912/13 and 1915/16) as one of the museum's own works, alongside On Lake Attersee and The Great Poplar II. The collection pages do not say which works are hanging on a given day.

On the exhibitions page, two shows were listed as current on 25 October 2026:

  • Vienna 1900 – Birth of Modernism, the long-running presentation, on since 16 March 2019.
  • Herbert Boeckl – Hans Josephsohn: Figural Archetypes, until 10 January 2027.

Allow two to three hours, the museum's own estimate.

Opening hours and holiday dates

The opening hours page gives:

  • Regular: daily except Tuesday, 10:00–18:00. Public holidays are open, even on a Tuesday.
  • 7 December 2026 – 10 January 2027: listed as open daily, 10:00–18:00.
  • 24 December 2026: closed.
  • 31 December 2026: 10:00–17:00.

The shop closes half an hour before the museum. The page adds that hours can change and suggests calling ahead.

Rules inside

  • Lockers and a cloakroom are available to all visitors. The museum's pages do not give a bag size limit.
  • Photography: without flash and for private use only in the Leopold Collection. No tripods, selfie sticks or extra lighting.
  • Assistance and guide dogs are allowed.

Getting to the Leopold Museum

The museum is at Museumsplatz 1 in the MuseumsQuartier, 1070 Vienna. The getting here page lists:

  • U2 to Museumsquartier.
  • U3 to Volkstheater.
  • Trams 1, 2 and D to Dr.-Karl-Renner-Ring.

There is a 24-hour car park in front of the MuseumsQuartier main entrance. Fares and passes for the U-Bahn and trams are in our Vienna public transport guide.

On a Tuesday

The Tuesday closing is the rule most likely to catch you out, outside the Christmas period and Tuesday public holidays. If Tuesday is your only free day, switch to the Albertina or the Belvedere for Vienna 1900 art, after checking their hours in our guides.
